CAMBRIDGE — Two years after launching the first ever cooperative branding campaign, “water moves us,” Dorchester County Economic Development (DCED) expanded the industry sectors of faces. The campaign showcases quality of life and people who choose to relocate to one of the East Coast’s most picturesque, historic communities. Quality of life and the economic well-being for a community are pillars for economic development. Living, working and recreational amenities are factors considered by new residents.

New residents Jill and John Hrabosky moved to Dorchester County after John’s sales territory was moved to the East Coast. The Hraboskys wanted to be near the water and could have chosen to relocate anywhere from Maryland to Maine. Jill said “We knew we wanted to be near water, so I looked at a map, and literally pointed to Cambridge. It had direct water access, and a beautiful countryside.”

Dorchester County is located on Maryland’s scenic Eastern Shore with more than 1,700 miles of shoreline. It is the largest land/water mass county in Maryland, with nearly 600 square miles of land and 70 square miles of waterways. Dorchester County offers attractive and affordable housing options from waterfront estates to rural developments including small city condos, townhouses and apartments. Many parts of the county offer amenities such as shops and restaurants, parks, marinas, and public entertainment venues. Jill added, “I love the quality of life in Dorchester County – It’s getting back to nature, being away from the hustle and bustle of concrete, traffic, and congestion – it’s good for the mind, body and soul.”

“More than a logo or a tagline, this branding campaign unified and strengthened our economic development marketing efforts,” said Keasha Haythe, economic development director, adding, “the consistent and compelling message has successfully leveraged our business, tourism and quality of life assets and provided us with a collaborative marketing platform that’s earned great reviews in our community.”
