CRISFIELD - Walter E. "Be-Bop" Ward, Jr., 82, of Crisfield, died Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at his home. Born in Crisfield August 3, 1934, he was a son of the late Walter E. and Mabel Laird Ward. His wife, Virginia S. "Ginger" Sommers Ward, died March 1, 1999. Retired from the former Carvel Hall Cutlery in Crisfield, he was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church and was a Charter and Life member of Lower Somerset County Ambulance and Rescue Squad. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Ronnie Hinman; and three grandchildren, Brittany, Joshua, and Emily Hinman; all of Crisfield. He is also survived by three sisters-in-law, Joyce Ward, of Crisfield, Mary Jane Long, of Salisbury, and Karen Sue Nichols, of Seaford; two brothers-in-law, Ralph Sommers, Jr., of Salisbury and Terry Sommers, of Pocomoke; his close friend, Vera Rae Higgins, of Baltimore; and several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Calvin Ward; and his sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Willis Briddell. Funeral services officiated by the Reverends Olivia Costango and Charles "Chuck" Jacobson were 2 p.m., Friday, September 2, 2016, at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home, where a viewing was one hour prior. Interment followed in Sunnyridge Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Lower Somerset County Ambulance and Rescue Squad, LSCARS, P.O. Box 406; or Mt. Pleasant U. M.
