CAMBRIDGE - Walter A. Atkinson passed away on Friday, June 3, 2016 at his home. He was born in Baltimore on Dec. 27, 1966, to Elizabeth "Betty" Campbell and the late Alvin Atkinson. Mr. Atkinson worked as a welder for most of his career. Walter enjoyed history, grass cutting, collecting and shooting guns, tinkering and fixing things, spending time on the water and enjoying time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Ann Atkinson, of Cambridge; a son, Joshua Atkinson, of Cambridge; a daughter, Melissa Atkinson, of Cambridge; a grandson, Nathan Mastronardi, of Preston; his mother, Betty Perdue and husband Bill, of Baltimore; siblings, Debbie Burris, of Cincinnati, Ohio, Cindy Solesky and husband Ken, of Baltimore, and Laurie Atkinson, of North Carolina; his mother-in-law, Dorothy McGainey, of Baltimore; good friends, Bruce MacSorley, of Cambridge, and Ken Sorteberg, of Towson; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Alvin Atkinson. As per Walters' request there will be no services. Arrangements are in the care of Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
