Virginia Triplett Linthicum
CHURCH CREEK - Virginia Triplett Linthicum, 79, passed away at the Mallard Bay Care Center on Friday, Dec. 21, 2007.
She was born in Pennsylvania on Feb. 9, 1928 and was a daughter of the late George Archibald and Ellen Craig Triplett.
She attended schools in Pennsylvania and graduated from Virginia Tech.
On Dec. 20, 1949 she was married to Benjamin J. Linthicum III. Mr. Linthicum passed away on Oct. 18, 2004.
Mrs. Linthicum taught school in Dorchester County for a number of years. She had been a communicant of Old Trinity Church for over 50 years, where she had served on the Vestry. She was a member of the Cambridge Woman's Club, Choptank Duplicate Bridge Club, St. Andrew's Society, Dorchester Women's Society, Daughters of the American Revolution, Tidewater Farm Club, Dorchester Arts Center and Dorchester Historical Society.
Mrs. Linthicum was an avid bridge player. She had been very interested in Dorchester County history as well as her own family's history. She had been in failing health for the past month.
Survivors include a son, Josiah F. "Jay" Linthicum and his fiancée, B.J. Bartleson of Loomis, Calif., and a sister-in-law, Mary Anne Triplett of McClain, Va.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, V. Lindsay Linthicum and a brother, William E. Triplett.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Old Trinity Churchyard at Church Creek with the Rev. Robert Gribbon officiating. A memorial service will be held at Old Trinity Church at 1 p.m. on Thursday with the Rev. Robert Gribbon officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Dorchester County Humane Society, P.O. Box 132, Cambridge, MD 21613 or to Old Trinity Church, P.O. Box 157, Church Creek, MD 21622.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Milligan, Bob Martin, Danny Danner, Debbie Usab, Paul Brooks, Pat Nield, Frank Wright, Earl Brannock, John Root Hopkins and Bill Vincent.
Arrangements are being handled by the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
