Cambridge-South Dorchester tightened its grip on first place with the win, advancing their record to 12-2 overall, 12-1 in the North. Kent Island fell to 9-7 on the year, 8-5 in the division. The Vikes’ Dre Greene led the charge on Tuesday, with 16 points, including crucial foul shots late in the game. Big man Ivan Taylor added 10 points. C-SD put together a balanced attack, with nearly all players on the roster adding to the tally, but none in double digits until the fourth quarter. The Bucs led at the close of the first period, 12-6, and C-SD didn’t tie it up until 6:40 of the second, with a Greene bucket. By the end of the first half, C-SD was out front, 29-18. A minute and a half into the second half, the Bucs’ 6’8” Ben Young let everyone know Kent Island wasn’t done yet, with a dunk and a swing on the rim, bringing the score to 44-34. During the break before the final period, Head Coach Vic Burns told his players, “Let’s dictate what we’re going to do out there.” The Bucs tried to slow things down with fouls, but Greene’s accuracy at the stripe - 6 of 8 - shut down the visitors.
