Vikings’ junior varsity football was in action on Thursday at home against Colonel Richardson.
[/caption] CAMBRIDGE – The Cambridge-South Dorchester junior varsity football team recorded another solid victory on Thursday, dominating the visiting Colonel Richardson Colonels, 46-8. Both teams took a while to get fired up, though, as the first quarter ended in a scoreless tie. However, on the first play of the second period, Ethan Bloodsworth carried the ball into the end zone from the Colonels’ 9-yard line. The Colonels’ next possession ended with a Logan Middleton interception, followed quickly by a 50-yard scoring gallop courtesy of Ethan Bloodsworth. Early in the second half, Bloodworth took it up the middle on a second and seven play for the third TD of the evening. The extra point kick was no good, leaving the score 20-0. The next score was by the visitors, and after a successful 2-point conversion made the tally 20-8, it looked like the Colonels might challenge the home team. But it was not to be. Another 50-yard scoring run by Bloodworth followed by a missed kick made it 26-0. Logan Middleton wasn’t done in the defensive backfield, either – he grabbed another pick and brought it to the Colonel 10-yard line. Lamont Jackson carried the ball to the 3, then Bloodworth punched in another score. A fake kick and 2-point conversion was unsuccessful, leaving the score at 32-8. In the fourth quarter, Cameron Lake took a break from his kickoff duties to run the ball. The change paid off, as Lake scored from the 10 to begin the final period. Malik Ennals added a long-distance TD to finish the night, sprinting 70 yards for the score.
