V. Ruth Hurley, 67

CAMBRIDGE - V. Ruth Hurley, 67, passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2008 at Dorchester General Hospital.

She was born in Cambridge on Aug. 15, 1940 and was a daughter of Sally Virginia Coleman Hurley and the late William Hurley.

Mrs. Hurley graduated from Cambridge High School in 1958. On Sept. 13, 1963 she married Thomas R. Hurley who passed away on April 27, 1974. She worked for Somerset District Court and retired in 2002.

Some of her hobbies were reading and traveling. Mrs. Hurley was a member St. Paul's United Methodist Church and was past class president of the Gleaners.

She is survived by a son, Howard L. Hurley of Cambridge; her mother, Sally Virginia Coleman Hurley; two stepsons, Thomas R. Hurley Jr. of Salisbury and Kimmeth Lee Hurley of North Carolina; a sister, Sharon Shorter and husband, Luther of Cambridge; a brother, Vernon L. Hurley and wife, Teresa of Cambridge; two nephews, Jason Shorter of Cambridge and Jenson Shorter of Secretary and a niece, Christina Brault of Cambridge; four great-nephews and a great-niece.

Besides her father and her husband, Mrs. Hurley was preceded in death by a brother, W. Howard Hurley.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with the Rev. Fred Bahr and the Rev. A. Delmer Willey Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Upper Bambury Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Jason Shorter, Jenson Shorter, Tom Hurley Jr., J.J. Shorter, Randall Bradshaw and Kimmeth Hurley.
