HURLOCK — Due to the lack of volunteers, Tri-City Little League may not exist for the upcoming 2020 Tee-ball, baseball and softball season, a statement from the league said last week. The Board of Directors’ message follows.
“For the past several years, we have been asking for volunteers to step up and get involved with the league with very few people willing to do so. The number of Board members have decreased the past four, with the remaining members having to devote an extraordinary amount of time to ensure the league operates properly.
“Presently, there is no one to fill the roles of president, vice president of baseball, umpire in chief, concession manager, equipment manager, information officer, uniform manager and field maintenance manager.
“If we cannot fill these positions, the league will not be able to operate and we will not have a league in 2020. Tri-City’s boundaries will be incorporated into surrounding leagues, meaning no local games and farther travel to play. Possibilities are Cambridge, South Caroline or Delmar, but that will be determined by Little League.
“Our next meeting is Oct. 29 at 6:30 p.m. at the Hurlock Town Hall, where we will attempt to hold elections for the Board of Directors. If we cannot get a full Board, we will not have a season in 2020. We ask that you get involved and help keep this league going.
