“WWII Liberty Ship visiting city,” Dorchester Banner, Aug. 8
FROM THE CREW: A huge thank you to the more than 1,100 people who visited the SS JOHN W. BROWN on our first “open to visitors” day in town. Cambridge sure has rolled out the red carpet for our 75-year-old WWII Liberty Ship and all-volunteer crew.
AWESOME: What an awesome ship and a great experience to be able to board her and tour it.
ENJOYED: My husband and son enjoyed the tour of this mighty historic ship. Thank you for bringing this to our town.
Money and power
TERM LIMITS: Most Americans have no idea what their representatives do in Washington, D.C., and are completely unaware of the environment we send them into. Once we learn, we are in a better position to ask for better legislation. I think the number-one thing is term limits. These would almost erase the system of favor for favor with lobbyists, and make stagnation impossible. We have had the same people arguing over same idiotic problems for more than two decades, while the normal people wonder why nothing is being done.
A BILLION BUCKS: The amount of money spent on an election is stupid. The last presidential election was more than $1 billion between the two candidates. That’s for a job that pays $400,000 a year? There are a lot of people who broker power through donations and PACs to sway the direction of the country. We the people are not the main focus. And that is sad.
