CAMBRIDGE - Thelma O. Veach, 90, died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007 at Chesapeake Woods Center, Cambridge.
Born on March 24, 1916, in Carthage, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late John C. Otto and Nina Lovejoy Otto.
On Aug. 21, 1940, she married Paul M. Veach. He died on Nov. 30, 1992.
Mrs. Veach was a member of Zion United Methodist Church, Cambridge. She had also previously belonged to St. Paul"s United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Martha Circle and Grace United Methodist Church where she was a member of the WSCS, now known as the United Methodist Women.
She was co-owner of Veach"s Nursery and had been a member of the Cambridge Country Club, Cambridge Yacht Club and the Forever Young Homemakers Club.
Mrs. Veach was also a member of the Dorchester General Hospital Auxiliary where she volunteered several hours at the Robin Hood Shop.
While her health permitted, Mrs. Veach was an avid golfer.
Surviving is a daughter, Janice Arnold of Mullica Hill, N.J.; a son, Richard C. Veach and his wife, Yvonne of East New Market; three grandchildren, Elaina Veach of Germany, Linda McClernan of Holland, Pa., Jeff Brady and his wife, Toni of West Chester, Pa.; four great-grandchildren, Colleen McClernan, Ryan McClernan, Elise Brady and Everett Brady; a niece, Marilyn Boyea and her husband, Jim of Minato, N.Y.; a great-niece, Jenni Boyea of California; three stepgrandchildren, Sam Yockey and his wife, Jane of East New Market, Kevin Yockey and his wife, Crystal of East New Market, David Yockey and his wife, Katie of Secretary; three stepgreat-grandchildren, Kristopher Yockey, Rebekah Yockey and Julianna Yockey.
Preceding her in death, besides her parents and husband, was a sister, Dorothy Munson, and son-in-law, Raymond M. Arnold.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, at Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home, P.A., where A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3 p.m. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Kevin E. English. Inurnment will follow privately at a later date in Greenlawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made in Mrs. Veach"s memory to Zion United Methodist Church, 612 Locust St., Cambridge, MD 21613.
