CAMBRIDGE — SunburstPharm, a state-of-the art licensed medicinal marijuana dispensary, is opening for business on Jan. 30 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at its location at 603 Meteor Ave. in Cambridge.

The new company will offer expert guidance and top-rated medicinal cannabis products for Maryland Medical Cannabis Patients. Studies have shown that 92 percent of patients preferred medicinal cannabis to opioids for the treatment of their conditions.

According to CEO, Darryl Hill, “Our management team has a decade of experience working with medicinal cannabis. Our goal is to improve the lives of our patients and local community through the use of this medical option.”

Medicinal cannabis is used to treat qualifying chronic or debilitating diseases and such medical conditions as glaucoma, Alzheimer’s disease, Crohn’s disease, cancer, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anorexia, multiple sclerosis, severe or chronic pain, seizures, among others. Hospice and palliative care patients may also qualify as patients who are eligible to receive medicinal cannabis.

Patients must apply to become Maryland Medical Cannabis Patients through the Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission (mmcc.maryland.gov) to receive written certification for use of medicinal cannabis.

The dispensary will offer one-on-one consultation on cannabis generally and on various strains and consumption methods and their efficacy for different medical conditions. It sells a broad range of medical cannabis products including: Cannabis Flower, THC Concentrates (e.g. tinctures, wax, shatter, oil, vape pen cartridges), topicals, CBD rich products, and consumption devices and other accessories.

A recent report indicated that the sales for medical marijuana in Maryland exceeded projections by a factor of 100 percent in 2018.

Mr. Hill adds, “I have come to Cambridge as a minority business owner and want to create revenue and jobs in this community by hiring local and diverse workers. We are thrilled to be here and look forward to providing community forums and classes to educate the community about this important medical resource.”

SunburstPharm is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The dispensary is closed on Tuesdays. An official grand opening ceremony will be held later in February.
