CAMBRIDGE — Members of the public are invited to share their memories, remembrances, stories and experiences of the canning industry in Dorchester County for a new public mural project.

The Heart of Chesapeake Country Heritage Area is hosting the event on April 6 from 5:30-7 p.m. at Liv Again, 317 High St. in Cambridge. People are welcome to bring photos related to local canning history as well. There will be refreshments.

The mural will be developed by artist Michael Owen, who created the Baltimore Love Project, which includes 20 love-themed murals throughout Baltimore City. He’s also created more than 100 other murals.

The canning stories shared on April 6 will serve as inspiration for Owen’s mural in Dorchester.

His mural will be the sixth in a series of roadside murals along the Chesapeake Country Scenic Byway highlighting the history and culture of Dorchester County.

The workshop is hosted by the Heart of Chesapeake Country Heritage Area. For questions or more information, please contact Katie Clendaniel at 443-205-5364 or e-mail Katie@visitdorchester.org.

Michael Owen will be in Cambridge the week of April 4 as part of an artist residency. He also has a solo show at the Dorchester Center for the Arts in April, with an artist reception from 5-7:30 p.m. open to all scheduled for April 6, with an artist talk at 5 pm.
