QUEENSTOWN — The 4th Annual Sporting Clays Classic held June 9 at The Point at Pintail in Queenstown was a great success, netting $78,847 to benefit the Wellness for Women community outreach program, provided by the Clark Comprehensive Breast Center at University of Maryland Shore Regional Health. Offered by UM Memorial Hospital Foundation, the Sporting Clays Classic attracted 228 registered shooters who enjoyed morning competition, lunch for participants, various prizes, raffles and a silent auction of items donated by local businesses and community members. Sponsorships from community members and businesses played a vital role in the success of the event. Key sponsors included the Auxiliary of the Memorial Hospital at Easton, Paul & Joanne Prager, Preston Automotive Group, Jack & Susan Stoltz, Caesar Guerini, USA, Whiting-Turner, James Real Estate Services, Attraction Magazine, The Orthopedic Center, The Point at Pintail, Avon-Dixon Agency LLC, Cambridge Marketplace, CBIZ & BSC Group, LLC, Gillis Gilkerson, Roberta Lilly, MD, R. Scott and Courtney Clark Pastrick, Shore Radiology, Tidewater Anesthesia, Willow Construction and WIN Transport. The Clark Comprehensive Breast Center’s Wellness for Women Program addresses breast cancer by providing uninsured and underinsured women with age and risk specific mammography screenings and clinical breast exams at no charge. The program provided 162 screenings during fiscal year 2017, while case workers completed 2,435 patient visits and managed a total of 382 patients. Prizes were given to each of the winners of the highest overall (HOA) score in their category, as follows: Joe Carey (men’s), Christine Corkell (women’s), Jackson Eshelman (junior’s) and Team Jack Stoltz #1 (team). The top three of each Lewis class also received prizes, as follows: (Lewis Class One) 1st place-Cody Eshelman, 2nd place-Rodger Becker, 3rd place-Ray Carey; (Lewis Class Two) 1st place-Wilson Cohey, 2nd place-Jamie Latham, 3rd place-Jason Rager; (Lewis Class Three) 1st place-Joe Buckley, 2nd place-Eric Masaracchia, 3rd place-Donald Foster. “Thank you to all who came out and made the Sporting Clays Classic such a successful and fun event,” says F. Graham Lee, vice president for philanthropy. “We are looking forward to next year’s clay shoot set for June 8, 2019 and hope to see everyone join us again.”
