CAMBRIDGE — This November, DCA will continue their Visiting Artist Series with several online classes via the Zoom platform.
SoulCollage, taught by North Carolina artist Bridget Pemberton-Smith, ATR-BC, is an intuitive and creative collage making process using simple materials, and participants create a personalized deck of cards with each card representing a part of their personality. No art experience is necessary.

Ms. Pemberton-Smith received her Master’s in Expressive Arts Therapy from Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She is a board-certified art therapist and development director of the Art Therapy Institute in Carrboro, North Carolina.
The 5-week class will meet on Mondays, Nov. 2–30, from 7-9 p.m. Course fee is $110 for DCA members, $140 for non-members.
Fiction Writing with Richard Krawiec is a writing-intensive, learner-centered course that will focus on reading a diverse range of stories, discussion of fictional techniques, and writing and revising a story. Stories will be shared in progress not for critique, but for positive feed-back.

Among topics covered will be voice, tone, theme; how to write effective action, dialogue, and description; ways to integrate flashbacks and utilize time.
Richard Krawiec is an American writer from Massachusetts. He wrote the Beginning and Intermediate Fiction Writing curriculum for the UNC-Chapel Hill Independent Studies Program, where he teaches online writing classes. The 6-week class will on Tuesdays from 7-9 p.m. Nov. 3–Dec. 8. Course fee is $120 for DCA members, $150 for non-members.
Florentine Artists of the Italian Renaissance will be taught by Dr. Irina Stotland. The three giants of the Italian Renaissance have ties to Florence: the artist-scientist, Leonardo da Vinci; the poet-artist, Michelangelo; and the artist-courtier, Raphael.

This lecture series will focus on their most celebrated masterpieces, such as The Last Supper, Mona Lisa, the Sistine Chapel Ceiling, and The School of Athens. The class will decode their iconography, consider their meaning, and explore the definition of the Florentine style of art.

Stotland received her doctorate in the History of Art from Bryn Mawr College. She is currently teaching at Montgomery College LLI in Rockville and lecturing at various museums and educational organizations. The 3-week class will meet on Fridays from 2-4 p.m. Nov. 6-20. Course fee is $115 for DCA members, $145 for non-members.
