On June 24, DCA will offer a plein air watercolor workshop with Marianne Kost from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Both studio and outdoor time will be included. Instruction focuses on strategies for plein air with the local view of the Choptank River Lighthouse and harbor as subjects.

Studio work will discuss preparatory drawing and watercolor techniques to capture atmosphere and light. Participants should bring lunch.

As an artist, Ms. Kost is “interested in creating expressive portraits and landscape paintings that move beyond capturing a likeness to telling a story that has universal appeal.” To register, visit DCA online at dorchesterarts.org or stop by 321 High St. in Cambridge.

Starting June 26, DCA kicks off its free Art in the Park summer outreach series for youth with a session at the Gerry Boyle Park at Great Marsh. This free art program for youth and caregivers will be held from 10 a.m. to noon daily, June 26-30. All ages welcome.

Instructed by Kathleen Hurley, the week will feature creative activities in a variety of mediums. Everyone will make something to take home every day. No registration required, and all materials are provided.

For more information on activities and events at DCA, stop by 321 High St., call 410-228-7782 or visit online at dorchesterarts.org. As the designated County Arts Council for Dorchester County, the Center for the Arts is committed to increasing access to the arts for all members of our community by supporting extensive outreach and educational opportunities in the arts.
