The Dorchester Center for the Arts (DCA) is closely monitoring the evolving situation regarding the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). The safety and security of our visitors, staff and volunteers is our highest priority. We are following recommended guidelines from The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and our state and local health agencies, and will continue to align our actions with the latest recommendations on preventative measures.
With this in mind, currently all public programs, classes, events, and interest groups at DCA are canceled at least through March 31. This includes the concert with Maris Wicker and Friends, which will be rescheduled, as well as the Final Friday Open Mic. Our new spring schedule and future events are currently on hold.
As we continue to monitor the situation we will be sure to keep the community current on any changes to our hours, programs and services. Please visit DCA online at www.dorchesterarts.org, and on social media for updates.
But despite the current circumstances, we know that art cannot be separated from the human condition. Consider the images of Italian neighbors singing from their balconies; creatively and spontaneously expressing feelings and fighting isolation.
Art is how humans have communicated the story of their lives since the beginning of time. Shared here are images from the current exhibits at DCA. Enjoy, and continue to embrace the arts for comfort and inspiration.
Dorchester Center for the Arts is located at 321 High St. in downtown Cambridge. Visit online at www.dorchesterarts.org. Like us on Facebook! Programs at DCA are supported by the Maryland State Arts Council.
