Soup and Sweater Day Jan. 27 at Grace United Methodist Church

Posted

CAMBRIDGE — Grace United Methodist Church, 501 Race St. in Cambridge, will host its annual Soup and Sweater Day on Jan. 27, from 11:30 am to 1:30pm. Please note that this year this event is on Friday rather than Saturday as it has been in the past. By holding it on Friday, people have access to transportation that is not available on Saturday so more folks can participate.

Everyone is invited to come enjoy a warm bowl of soup and take home a gently worn sweater, sweatshirt, coat, and other winter clothing. There is no charge for this event. Winter can be a difficult time of the year for people. Reaching out to our community in this way is a small way we can help. Sharing time together over a hot meal is special and going home with something to help one get through the winter is a blessing for those who receive and those who give.

Donations of clothing are needed and welcome. Please bring your items to the church Tuesday through Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. All donations must be received by Jan. 26. Please call the church office at 410-228-4353 prior to coming just to be sure someone will be there to take your donations.

The meal will be prepared in the kitchen at Grace and monetary donations to assist with the cost of the soup are welcome.

If you need further information, please contact Diane Twilley at 410-943-8491.
