CAMBRIDGE – Share in the holiday spirit with the Chorus of Dorchester holiday concert Dec. 12 in the George B. Todd Performance Hall.
The performance begins at 7 p.m. Since 1975, the Chorus of Dorchester has been bringing together Dorchester County residents and friends, from middle schoolers to senior citizens, who share a love of singing. Its membership includes many who have participated since 1975. The chorus is under the direction of Cookie Brohawn, accompanied by Laura Todd on piano and funded by the Nathan Foundation.
Concertgoers are invited to bring something for the senior’s donation box, a collection for community seniors being implemented in partnership with the Groove City Black Heritage and Culture Group. Items to donate include jumbo playing cards, word search books, arts and crafts sets, winter socks, gloves, hats and scarves, earrings, slippers, body lotion, deodorant and cologne.
Also continue the spirit of gift giving in the Merry Market. DCA has transformed its gallery into a whimsical shopping experience, displaying a wide variety of unique, hand-crafted items such as jewelry, candles, traditional arts and crafts and more, plus a select group of hand-designed holiday wreaths.
The Second Saturday reception will be held Dec. 9 from 5-7 p.m. with light refreshments, live music and an opportunity to meet the featured artists. Dorchester Center for the Arts is committed to supporting and uplifting local artists. We invite you to come see what The Merry Market has to offer you and your loved ones this holiday season. The Merry Market is open through Dec. 23.
In addition, DCA has created a Craft Gallery where visitors can stop in for tea or hot chocolate and make a wreath or holiday craft item. It’s fun for all ages.
Enjoy more music at the winter pop-up open mic, Dec. 19, 6-9 p.m. Bring your talent, or just come to listen and enjoy. The evening will be hosted by Ray Remesch and sponsored by Peter Baker. Free, and all are welcome.
