CAMBRIDGE — As residents of Cambridge prepared their Christmas celebrations with some last-minute shopping, the joy of the season was marred by violent incidents. The Cambridge Police Department reported on last week that a shooting and and armed robbery had occurred on Monday and Tuesday, followed by another shooting on Friday.

On Dec. 25, a person was hit by gunfire in front of 618 Pine St.
“There was an altercation,” Capt. Justin Todd said in a statement to the Dorchester Banner. Then, the “subject pulled a gun while of the ground and shot the other subject.”
The person was shot in the torso and flown to Shock Trauma by Maryland State Police Trooper 6 Medivac based in Easton. The victim had surgery on Saturday morning.
“We are developing suspect info and determining exactly what occurred,” Capt. Todd said. “Subject flown to Shock Trauma. There was an altercation…on Pine Street, then the subject pulled a gun while on ground and shot the other subject.”
Capt. Todd said the victim had undergone surgery, adding, “We are developing suspect info and also determining exactly what occurred.”

Shooting
On Dec. 21 shortly before 8 p.m., Cambridge Police responded to shots fired in the 900 block of Phillips Street. While officers were responding, they had another report that there was a shooting victim located in the 500 block of Leonard’s Lane.
Officers responded to that location where they located a male juvenile in a vehicle with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the back. Through investigation, it was determined that the victim was shot in the Phillip/Moore’s Street area.
The victim was taken to Salisbury where at this time he is listed as critical but stable, the report said. This investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the Cambridge Police Departments Criminal Investigation Division at 410-228-3333.

Bank robbery
On Dec. 22 at approximately 8:40 a.m., officers responded to the 1880 bank located at 304 High St. While responding, it was learned that the suspects had fled from the bank and were running on foot toward the West End area.
Investigation revealed that four subjects entered the bank armed and forced an employee to the vault and obtained a large amount of US currency. One of the employees at the bank was assaulted when struck by the handgun.

On Monday morning, Cambridge police announced three arrests in the case: Ty’Mereah Camper, 18, of Cambridge; Darcel Hudson Jr., 38, of Salisbury; and a 17-year-old male juvenile were charged with armed robbery, armed robbery conspiracy and theft $100,00.00 plus. Hudson was additionally charged with 1st and 2nd degree assault and reckless endangerment. They are currently being held without bond. An additional arrest is still expected in this incident, the report said.

Officers were able to recover the large amount of cash and located one handgun suspected of having been involved in the incident.
The bank employee who was assault was treated and later released from the hospital. The investigation is continuing.
