Sara McGrath Andrews, 89

POCOMOKE CITY - Sara McGrath Andrews died Tuesday, March 27, 2007, at Salisbury Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Salisbury. She was 89.

Born in Crisfield Oct. 26, 1917, she was a daughter of the late John H. and Addie Mae Mills McGrath. Her husband, James F. Andrews died Oct. 15, 1990. She had been making her home in Pocomoke City since 1954, and was a former resident of Memphis, Tenn.

A retired registered nurse, Mrs. Andrews graduated from the Lynchburg, Virginia General Hospital School of Nursing. She was a U.S. Navy Nurse Corps veteran serving in World War II and was discharged with the rank of lieutenant JG. She also worked at the McCready Memorial Hospital in Crisfield. She was a member of St. Paul"s Episcopal Church in Marion Station.

Mrs. Andrews is survived by two sisters, Addie Mae Lawson of Crisfield, and Cathryn Lankford of Marion Station; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert "Bob" McGrath, and John H. McGrath Jr.; two sisters, Ruth M. Young and Mary Lou Charnick.

Graveside services and burial were held on Friday, March 30, 2007, at Sunnyridge Memorial Park in Crisfield. Father Mike Lokey officiated.

Arrangements were in the care of Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield.
