Sandra Lee Simmons

CHURCH CREEK - Sandra Lee "Sandy" Simmons passed away Sun., July 14, 2013 at her home. Born on Nov. 4, 1946 in Cambridge she was the daughter of Peggy Todd Milligan and the late John Mace Todd. She attended the local schools in Cambridge. On June 4, 1971 Sandy became the bride of James Larry Simmons. They were blessed with two daughters, Tracy and Dawn. Together they enjoyed 42 years of marriage. Although Sandy was employed with the local Wal-Mart for over 15 years she greatly enjoyed working on the water with Jimmy. Sandy was a member of the VFW in Federalsburg. Besides working on the water Sandy's other love was her grandchildren. She was a smiling and happy face that always brought joy and comfort in their lives. Of course Sandy could also be seen occasionally at Harrington's Slots where she enjoyed the excitement and atmosphere. Surviving besides her husband and mother are daughters, Tracy Taylor and Dawn Simmons; sisters, Sue Wilson, Diana Brooks, Debbie Brooks Cindy Osburn and Sherry Wheatley; grandchildren, Jimmy Taylor, Lauren Abbott and Madison Abbott; great grandchildren, David and Joey Taylor. A funeral service was held on Thurs., July 18, 2013 at the Newcomb and Collins Funeral Home, P.A., Cambridge beginning 1 p.m. Officiating the service was Pastor Chuck Hudson. Burial followed at Dorchester Memorial Park, Cambridge. Serving as pallbearers were Wayne Ashton, Jr., Jimmy Taylor, Leroy Bell, Kevin Morgan, Joe Chester, Jackie McGlaughlin, Johnny McGlaughlin and Brian Kemp. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in memory of Sandy can be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 163, Salisbury, MD 21803. To send online condolences please visit www.newcombcollins.com
