Samaris Michelle Blake

SALISBURY -- Samaris Michelle "Cherry" Blake died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. Born in Salisbury, she was the daughter of Marian Dorman of Salisbury and the late Joseph Dorman Sr.
She was a 1980 graduate of James M. Bennett High School and attended the University of Maryland Eastern Shore in Princess Anne. She recently graduated from Wor-Wic Community College with a certificate in medical billing and coding.
At a young age, she joined First Baptist Church of Salisbury, where she sang in the J.C. Mills Gospel Choir and Inspirational Choir. She was a former Sunday school teacher, usher, and assistant to the Hearts of Angels Choir, and a member of the Pastor's Relations, Culinary, Christian Education and Drama Ministries.
For many years, she was employed by Sealy Furniture. Later, she became employed by Blind Industries and Services for 11 years, before working as a sexton at First Baptist Church. She also worked at Lewis N. Watson Funeral Home as a hair stylist.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Audra "Andre" Blake Sr. of Salisbury; a daughter, Shameka Kearse of Elkton, Md.; a son, Audra "AJ" Blake Jr. of Salisbury; two grandchildren; a sister, Karen Dennis of Columbia, S.C.; four brothers, Joseph "JoJo" Dorman Jr. of Delmar, Carlos Dorman of Salisbury, William "Sputnik" Dorman of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Jerome "Midget" Dorman of Salisbury; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018, at First Baptist Church in Salisbury. Interment followed at Green Acres Memorial Park in Salisbury. Arrangements are in the care of Lewis. N. Watson Funeral Home in Salisbury.
