Ruth M. Asmussen

TRAPPE, Md. - Ruth M. Asmussen passed away peacefully at her home on Aug. 7, 2010. She was 83 years old. Born in Cambridge on Oct. 12, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Arvie W. and Marion Jones Moore. Mrs. Asmussen was a member of the First Baptist Church, where she was treasurer for 40 years. She was a former member of the Easton Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, where she held various positions; Cambridge Eastern Star; the Soroptomist Club of Talbot County; and the Women of the Moose at Lodge 1211 in Cambridge. She is survived by her sister, Marian Lutz of Easton; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Asmussen; and her brother, Norman J. Moore. A funeral was held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 12, at the First Baptist Church in Easton, where friends called one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Whitemarsh Cemetery in Trappe. Memorial contributions may be made to Talbot Hospice Foundation, 586 Cynwood Dr., Easton, MD 21601.
