WOOLFORD - Ruth L. Willey, 79, passed away at her home on Friday, Sept. 28, 2007.

She was born in Woolford on June 25, 1928 and was a daughter of the late John Henry and Lula Fitzhugh Brannock.

She attended schools in Woolford as well as Cambridge High School. On Dec. 31, 1946 she was married to J. Byrd Willey.

Mrs. Willey was a homemaker for most of her life. She enjoyed gardening and working in her yard and was a devoted wife and mother. She had been in failing health for past several months when she passed away at her home on Friday.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, J. Byrd Willey Sr. of Woolford; one daughter, Anna Ruth Quenneville of Tunis Mills; two sons, J. Byrd Willey Jr. and his wife, Alma Willey of Easton, and John H. Willey and his wife, Kathryn Willey of Hurlock; three grandsons, Joe Willey and his wife, Kristen Willey, of Princess Anne, Michael Willey of Princess Anne and Bryan Willey of Hurlock; one granddaughter, Jennifer Fulton and her husband, Jason Fulton of Princess Anne; four great-grandsons, Jack Willey, Gabriel Willey, Aaron Fulton and Will Fulton; one niece, Sylvia B. Windsor and one nephew, Randy P. Brannock; and a sister-in-law, Alice S. Brannock, who she considered a sister.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, William Brannock and Howard P. Brannock and one sister, Doris Wheatley.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at the Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge with the Rev. Keith Maxwell officiating.

Burial will take place at the Maryland Veterans" Cemetery at Beaulah at a later date.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Thomas Funeral Home.
