CAMBRIDGE — On May 23, 2019, at the Eastern Shore Hospital Center, the Cambridge Rotary Club awarded $17,000 in scholarships to six deserving Dorchester County high school seniors.

The presentation of scholarships marked the 43rd year that the Cambridge Rotary Club has recognized graduating seniors with financial aid.

Abigail Rebecca Robinson and Carrie Lyn Price and Jenna Lynn Usilton each received $4,000 Weygand Scholarships. Brie Riley Bates and Brook Rivers Bates, twins, split a Weygand Scholarship, each receiving $2,000. In addition to the Weygand Scholarships, the Cambridge Rotary Club awarded a $1,000 vocational scholarship to Jocelyn Renea Meyers, a senior at North Dorchester High School.

Abigail Rebecca Robinson, daughter of Thomas M. and Tammy Dee Robinson, graduated 3rd in her 2019 class of 192, with a Cumulative Weighted GPA of 4.48. She has been involved in three varsity sports: soccer, basketball, and softball, and was captain for two years of the NDHS varsity basketball team. She was also a member of the National Honor Society and a member of the National Technical Honor Society. In the fall Abigail will be attending Salisbury University.

Carrie Lyn Price, daughter of Dean and Kate Price, graduated number 1 in her class of 192; her cumulative Weighted GPA is 4.57. She has been active in three varsity sports, and excelled in cross-country and indoor track. She was chosen to attend the Maryland Eastern Shore Mid-Atlantic Mathematics Challenge and was nominated to attend the National Youth Leadership Forum in Medicine. She is the president of the Interact Club at C-SDHS. She will be attending Salisbury University in the fall of 2019.

Brie Riley Bates, twin daughter of Claudia and Robert Bates, graduated 18th in her class of 118 students; she has a Cumulative Weighted GPA of 4.18. Brie was a starter in varsity soccer, all four years, and was the team captain her senior year. She was an excellent runner at mid-level distances.
Brie plans to attend Cairn University in the fall.

Brooke Rivers Bates, the other twin, is graduated 15th in her class of 118; she has a Cumulative Weighted GPA of 4.27. She is a two-year member of the National Spanish Honor Society and a two-year member of the National Honor Society. Brooke excelled at Advanced Placement Classes such as AP Calculus, AP Statistics, and AP U.S. Government & Politics; she plans on attending Cairn University, a private Christian school for business Administration with a minor in marketing.

Jenna Lynn Usilton, daughter of Steven D. and Pamela J. Usilton, graduated number 1 in her class of 118 students; she has a Cumulative Weighted GPA of 4.50. Jenna is a member of the National Honor Society and the Mathematics Honor Society. She has been on every honor roll all four years at North Dorchester High School. She plans on attending Wesley College and become a nurse.

Jocelyn R. Meyers, the daughter of Jill and Irvin Stiles, graduated 11th in her class of 118 students. She is receiving from the Cambridge Rotary Club a Vo-tech Scholarship worth $1,000. She has been on the NDHS honor roll from 9th grade to current. She has been the class president of the Student Government Association [9 through 12 grades] and is a member of the Math Honor Society, the National Honor Society, and the National Technical Honor Society. Jocelyn was the winner of 2019 Miss Outdoors Pageant and will be attending Del Tech in the fall.

Jocelyn, Jenna, Abby and Carrie attended RYLA, Rotary Youth Leadership Awards, a leadership conference sponsored by the Rotary District 7630.
