Rita W. Malkus, 83 CAMBRIDGE - Rita W. Malkus, 83, passed away on July 19, 2008 at Memorial Hospital in Easton. She was born in Cambridge on June 24, 1925 and was a daughter of the late Aldon and Madeline Adkins Willey. Mrs. Malkus graduated from Cambridge High School in 1942. On July 3, 1943 she married Calvin Malkus. She was a homemaker. Some of her hobbies were crossword puzzles, painting, ceramic, camping and traveling. Mrs. Malkus was a member the Immanuel United Church of Christ. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Calvin Malkus of Cambridge; a son, William "Bill" Malkus and wife, Terry of Cambridge; three daughters, Carol Segar and husband, Roger of Cambridge, Kathy Kelly and husband, Rick of Cambridge and Charlotte Hanson and husband, Chuck of Cambridge; seven grandchildren, Brent Malkus, Lynn Malkus-Lyons, Melissa Elzey, Jason Segar, Susan Collins, Shawna Kelly and Christie Wheatley; eight great-grandchildren and a brother-in-law, James Foxwell. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Onelin Foxwell. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at Immanuel United Church of Christ with the Rev. Joan P. Evans officiating. Burial will follow at Old Trinity Churchyard. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Pallbearers will be Jason Segar, Lee Lyons, Eric Wheatley, Kenny Collins, Dennis Elzey and Ronald Wade. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Immanuel United Church of Christ, 5401 White Hall Road, Cambridge, MD 21613. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
