RFC fights two-alarm fire on Washington St.

Rescue Fire Company personnel extinguished a house fire on Washington Street in Cambridge on Tuesday, then ventilated the structure.

CAMBRIDGE — At 6:32 p.m. on Tuesday, Dorchester Central dispatched Rescue Fire Company (RFC) units for an apartment fire at 113 Washington St., Apt. B in the Cambridge 1-1 Box Area. Chief Adam Pritchett arrived on location with smoke showing from side alpha and established command.

Engine 1-3 arrived and made quick work of a burning room and contents fire on the first floor of the house. Other crews assisted with search, overhaul and ventilation.

At 8:15 p.m., command placed the situation under control and released all units without incident. Chief Pritchett remained on location, with the Maryland State Fire Marshal and awaiting Red Cross volunteers.

Engine 1-3 — 500 feet of attack line, 24 feet of ground ladders
Tower 1-1 — 16 feet of ground ladders, ventilation, lights
Engine 1-2 — 400 feet of 5-inch supply line reverse lay to A hydrant, crew assist with investigation
Brush 1-1 — additional personnel

Mutual aid was provided by the Cambridge Police Department, Dorchester County Emergency Medical Services, PM100 and 101 (Cambridge) and Talbot Station 30 from Trappe.
