CAMBRIDGE — Waugh Chapel United Methodist Church will celebrate it 46th Annual Homecoming and host a Community Day on Sunday, at 10 a.m. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Lester Justice, director of Strengthening the Black Church for the Peninsula-Delaware Conference of the United Methodist Church.

Rev. Justice is a 2002 graduate of Howard University School of Divinity in Washington, D.C. with a Master of Divinity Degree. He was ordained an itinerant elder in the Peninsula-Delaware Conference of The United Methodist Church in June 2007. Aside from his directorship for the Peninsula-Delaware Conference, he is a member of the Conference Relations Committee, Vice Co-Chair of the Board of Ordained Ministry (BOOM), a member of the Wilmington District Nominations and Leadership Committee, and a mentoring pastor. He also participates in the CAP (Community Action Program) in the surrounding churches as well as IMAC (Interdenominational Ministers Action Council), which includes being the Chair of the Social Action and Justice Committee in the city of Wilmington.

Rev. Justice has been pastoring for 19 years. Presently, he is the pastor of Simpson UMC in Wilmington, Del. where he was appointed in July 2008. He has encouraged the church to become focused on the study of God’s Word but more importantly being a doer of the Word. Evangelism, bible study, discipleship classes, and stewardship have become very intentional since his arrival. Through Rev. Justice’s leadership, Simpson UMC has become a multi-generational, inclusive church.

Rev. Justice is a native of Millsboro, Del. He is married to the former Wanda A. Davis. They are the parents of a daughter, Amber.

One of Rev. Justice’s favorite scriptures is 1 Corinthians 2:9, “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” (NKJV)
