Rev. Harley Henry Krause

BOONEVILLE, Miss. - The Rev. Harley Henry Krause died Monday, Nov. 20, 2006, at Magnolia Regional Health Center. He was 84.

He was born Nov. 26, 1921, in Bonduel, Wis. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He graduated from Eastern Baptist Seminary, Reformed Episcopal Seminary and Emory University, and received master"s degrees in history and theology from the University of Maryland.

He preached for more than 50 years. His service on the Eastern Shore of Maryland began in 1967 when he was assigned to the Peninsula Conference of the United Methodist Church to be pastor of Marion Station-Mariners Charge from 1967 to 1970. He was also at St. Peter"s Church in Oriole in 1977 and at Crisfield"s Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church from 1978 to 1986. He retired in 1989.

In Mississippi he was a volunteer chaplain at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville and at local nursing homes. He was a volunteer with the Baptist Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Booneville, the Methodist Men, the Lions Club and Vetrerans of Foreign Wars Post 4877.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Blanche Alice Krause; one son, Philip Krause (Mary); one daughter, Rebecca Walker; two brothers, Duke Moesch and Jason Moesch; two sisters, Dolores Denna and Arbutus Olsen; four grandchildren, Deborah Krause, Anna Krause, Jennifer Connolly and Elizabeth Walker; five great-grandchildren; a special niece, Laurie McBride; and in-laws, Charles and Doris Stewart.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Selma Krause Moesch; his stepfather, Elroy Moesch; a brother, Wallace Moesch; and a grandchild, Jessica Krause.

Services were held Nov. 22 at the Booneville Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. C.D. Edge and Bro. Bobby Hankins officiating. Burial was in Oaklawn Memorial Park. Honorary pallbearers were members of VFW Post 4877.
