Raymond W. Ritter, 85

EASTON - Raymond W. Ritter, formerly of Hurlock, died Sunday, Oct. 19, 2008, in Memorial Hospital in Easton. He was 85. Mr. Ritter was the son of the late George P. Ritter and Elsie Burns Ritter. His first wife, Hazel Ritter, died in 1994. His second wife, Rebecca Pardoe Ritter, died in 1998. Mr. Ritter had moved to Maryland's Eastern Shore from Williamsport, Pa. in 1969. He was a counselor for the Bethany House until he retired in 1985. He lived in Hurlock from 1992 until 2008. He recently moved to the Parkview Apartments in Easton. Mr. Ritter was a veteran of the United States Army and had landed in France on D-Day, June 6, 1944. He was a member of the Hurlock Wesleyan Church. Mr. Ritter is survived by three sons, Raymond A. Ritter and his wife Linda, of Danville, Pa., Ed Ritter and his wife Wanda, of Denton, and Kevin M. Ritter and John Rymer of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a step-daughter, Janet Cumberledge and her husband Gary of Federalsburg; three brothers, Arthur Ritter of Williamsport, Pa., Robert Ritter of Florida, and Thomas Ritter of Williamsport, Pa.; four grandchildren, Stephanie Ritter, Todd Ritter, Neil Ritter, and Kristy Ritter; two great-grandchildren, Julia Townley and Alyssa Bowen; and his close friend, Donna Salyards. A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Hurlock Wesleyan Church on Main Street, Hurlock. Friends may call one hour prior at the church. Burial will be in the Maryland Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery in Beulah. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests for friends to send memorial donations to the Hurlock Wesleyan Church, 200 Taylor Ave., Hurlock, MD 21643; or to the Coastal Hospice, Inc., P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802-1733. Arrangements by Moore Funeral Home, P.A., 12 S. Second St., Denton, MD 21629.
