CAMBRIDGE - Rachel B. Mayne passed away on Mon., Mar. 23, 2015 at UMSMC at Dorchester. She was born in Cambridge on May 5, 1918 and was a daughter of the late Leland and Alice LeCompte Beckwith. Mrs. Mayne graduated from Cambridge High School. She was first married to Ronald Weldon Bryan and later on Nov. 26, 1969, she married Granville D. Mayne, who passed away on Dec. 17, 1989. Mrs. Mayne was a seamstress for several different shirt factories. She enjoyed reading, gardening, crocheting, playing cards and spending time with her family. Mrs. Mayne was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, and also volunteered at the Robin Hood Shop. Besides her parents; and her husband, Mrs. Mayne is preceded in death by two sisters, Leona Aaron and Clara Spedden. She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Robinson of Cambridge; grandchildren, Julie Merrick (Steve), Marilyn Treiber (David), Fred Robinson, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Douglas Burton, Jr., Heather Meekins, TJ Meekins, Laurie Merrick, Tish Blessing, Rachel Treiber, Rebecca Treiber and Olivia Robinson; several great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Leland Beckwith, Jr. of East New Market; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Fred Robinson, Jr., David Treiber, Steve Merrick, Douglas Burton, Jr., TJ Merrick and Jim Duffy. A funeral service will be held on Fri., Mar. 27, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. Jimmy Harper officiating. Interment will follow at East New Market Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
