Quentin M. Tyrrell Jr.

DELMAR - Quentin Marvin Tyrrell, Jr. died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018, at his home, surrounded by his family. Born in Greenwood, he was a son of the late Quentin Marvin Tyrrell Sr. and Jessie Lucille Tyrrell.
Often called "Junior," he attended Milford High School and served in the U.S. Army before embarking on his career in tree service. He was a licensed tree expert and the owner of Tyrrell's Tree Service Inc. for 42 years.
He attended St. Stephen's United Methodist Church in Delmar and was a Cub Scouts leader for several years. He was also known as a gifted woodworker.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Betty Miller Tyrrell; daughters, Diana T. Golt of Dover and Dana L. Carlock of Delmar; a son, Bruce M. Tyrrell of Philadelphia; two grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Ruth Hurd of Milford, Marlene "Tootsie" Bailey of Milton, Gene S. Tyrrell of California, Everett L. Tyrrell of Lincoln and Lyle Merrick of Bridgeville; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Calvin C. Tyrrell.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, Jan. 20, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, where family and friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment with military honors will follow at Springhill Memory Gardens in Hebron.
