[/caption] Community members are urged to purchase their tickets in advance for the American Spiritual Ensemble Concert to be held at the Dorchester Center for the Arts on Sept. 14 at 7 p.m. Advance purchase provides a savings of up to $10 from the at-the-door price. Tickets are on sale now and advance tickets are: $20 for DCA Members; $25 for non-members; and students are $10. Tickets at the door will be $30 for members and non-members and $15 for students. DCA gallery reception this weekend Dorchester Center for the Arts (DCA) will host the Artists’ Reception this Saturday, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Featured in the main Foundations’ Gallery is “Exploring the Tarot: Twenty-three Artists Hook the Major Arcana.” Also showing is local favorite Elissa Crouch, who is a Traditional Rug Hooker. A special exhibit in the Front Gallery is entitled “Small Treasures” and features work by artists Alan Brock and Michael King. This month’s exhibits are sponsored by Wallace and Associates. Vendor demonstrations at Showcase DCA will present the 40th Annual Dorchester Center for the Arts Showcase on Sept. 25 from noon – 5 p.m. in downtown Cambridge. A wide range of vendors are already registered showcasing various art mediums, and special demonstrations will also take place at the event. Artists providing demonstrations will be Mark Williams of Williams Blacksmithing in Snow Hill; spinning, knitting, crochet, weaving and cross-stitch from the DCA Fiber Artists Group; rug hooking with Master Rug Hooker Elissa Crouch at her booth; and screen painting by Master Screen Painter John Iampieri. There will also be free sails on the Skipjack Nathan of Dorchester at 1, 2 and 3 p.m. Among other artist vendors at the event will be: Bead-A-Licious with seed beaded items; Christina Messick with paintings and custom wood art; Cynda Twilley with wreaths, trees and arrangements; Jay Baker with photography; Joyce Fritz Ritz with free-from beaded and wire-wrapped jewelry; Poseys by the Sea with sea glass jewelry and home décor; Dennis Kurth with Kurth Airbrush; W. Robert Tolley with original oils and limited edition prints and dozens more artists. Food vendors will include Gabbins Soft Ice Cream, Overflow Café Coffee and Cookies; Pops Snow Palace with Snow Cones and Soft Pretzels; and oyster sandwiches and crab cakes from St. Paul’s Methodist Men. Vendors are being added daily and any artist interested in participating must submit applications no later than Sept. 16. Showcase is presented by the Dorchester Center for the Arts and sponsored by the Nathan Foundation and the Maryland State Arts Council. For more information, call 410-228-7782.
