BURGLARY AND TRESPASSING: HURLOCK — On July 29, deputies from the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office responded to 6129 Palmers Mill Road, Hurlock for a report of an individual standing in the roadway blocking traffic and kicking vehicles.

Upon arrival deputies located the suspect Bryan Scott Chance, 35, sitting on the front porch of the residence eating a cake that he had removed from the residence. When the suspect was taken into custody, it was learned that he was on Home Detention and was supposed to be at 201 Academy St. in Cambridge.

He was charged with second degree burglary, fourth degree burglary, trespassing, theft under $100, malicious destruction of property and disorderly conduct.

He was ordered held without bond.

HIGH SPEED CHASE: EAST NEW MARKET — On July 10, members of the Dorchester County Narcotics Task Force which consists of officers from the Maryland State Police, Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office, Cambridge Police and Hurlock Police attempted to stop a vehicle driven by Roderick Darnell Bell, 26, of 5643-1 Thompsontown Road, East New Market.

The driver fled from police and a chase took place with speeds reaching over 100 mph. The suspect attempted to turn off of Rt. 16 in the area of Cambridge-South Dorchester High School where he lost control of the vehicle. When he spun out of control one of the pursuing vehicles was forced off of the roadway into a ditch. The police vehicle was a total loss and the two officers received minor injuries and were treated and released from the hospital.

The suspect was charged with 19 various traffic charges as well as possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute in a school zone, possession of paraphernalia, reckless endangerment and possession of methamphetamine. The suspect is being held without bond.

BURGLARY AND THEFT: HURLOCK — On July 15, a deputy from the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office arrested Richard Wayne Dawson, 24, of 6255 East New Market-Elwood Road, Hurlock, and Bethany Ann Dean, 19 of the same address in connection with a burglary and theft that took place on July 14, at 4134 Oak Creek Landing, Hurlock.

Dawson was charged with first degree burglary, fourth degree burglary, 2 counts of theft over $100 but under $1,000, theft under $100, conspiracy to commit first degree burglary and conspiracy to commit fourth degree burglary.

Dean was charged with first degree burglary, fourth degree burglary, 4 counts of theft, conspiracy to commit burglary and conspiracy to commit fourth degree burglary, both suspects were ordered held without bond.

BURGLARY: TAYLORS ISLAND — On July 13, a deputy from the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office arrested Joshua Tyler Tieder, 30 of 4204 Robinson Neck Road, Taylors Island.

He was wanted in Wicomico County for first degree burglary, fourth degree burglary, and theft over $1,500 but under $25,000 and conspiracy to commit first degree burglary.

He was held on $10,000 bond.

VIOLATION OF PROBATION: EAST NEW MARKET — On July 17, a deputy from the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office arrested Brandon Luke Melton, 24 of 5967 Rt. 14, East New Market.

He was charged with violation of probation and ordered held without bond.

CDS ARREST; TRAPPE — On June 30, Deputies from the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office were alerted by citizens of a motor vehicle driving in an erratic manner on Ocean Gateway in the area of Greenfield Avenue, Trappe.

Deputies located the vehicle and observed numerous traffic violations. Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle utilizing lights and siren; however the driver refused to stop and attempted to elude police.

Deputies, assisted by the Maryland State Police pursued the vehicle into Dorchester County where they were aided by the Cambridge Police Department, stopping the vehicle near Maryland Avenue.

The driver was identified as Stephen Richard Karafa, 51 of Salisbury and was arrested. Karafa was charged with driving while intoxicated, fleeing and eluding police officers, possession of marijuana, threat of arson and numerous other traffic violations.

Karafa was processed and taken before a District Court Commissioner who ordered him held at the Talbot County Detention Center pending further court action.

WARRANT ARREST: FEDERALSBURG — On July 6, Deputies from the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jeremiah Isaiah Camper, 18 of Federalsburg, on a Talbot County Circuit Court Warrant.

The warrant was issued as Camper violated his terms of probation on a conviction of burglary.

A second warrant, issued by the District Court for Talbot County for violation of probation on a conviction of driving while impaired was also served on Camper.

Camper was held without bond at the Talbot County Detention Center pending further court action.

WARRANT ARREST: TRAPPE — On July 16, Deputies from the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office arrested Elton Gene Gwin III, 34 of Trappe.

On July 11, an arrest warrant was issued by the Talbot County Circuit Court for failure to appear at a scheduled court hearing.

Gwin was ordered held at the Talbot County Detention Center without bond.

CDS ARREST: TRAPPE — On July 15, Deputies from the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office stopped a motor vehicle on Ocean Gateway near Barber Road, Trappe, for an equipment violation. Deputies identified the driver as Arthur Lawrence Decker III, 32 of Baltimore, and observed CDS in plain sight.

A probable cause search of the vehicle revealed cocaine, marijuana and paraphernalia. Decker was placed under arrest and charged with possession of CDS and paraphernalia.

Decker was taken before a District Court Commissioner and was released on his personal recognizance.

WARRANT ARREST: FEDERALSBURG — On June 5, Deputies from the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office arrested Charles Joseph Henry, 38 of Federalsburg.

On May 16, the Talbot County Circuit Court issued an arrest warrant for Henry for failure to appear at a scheduled court hearing.

Henry was ordered held at the Talbot County Detention Center on no bond.

CRIMINAL SUMMONS SERVICE: TRAPPE — On June 6, 2018, Deputies from the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office served a criminal summons on Georgetta Camacho, 48 of Trappe, charging her with assault in the second degree. The charge stems from an incident outside of Camacho’s residence, during which she is accused of striking a juvenile female with a closed fist. Camacho was released on her signature with a court appearance pending.

WARRANT SERVICE: TRAPPE — On June 12, Deputies from the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office arrested David Se Nuon, 31 of Trappe.

On June 12, an arrest warrant was issued by the Talbot County District Court charging Nuon with attempted second degree murder, assault in the first degree, assault in the second degree and malicious destruction of property.

Nuon was taken before a District Court Commissioner and was ordered held at the Talbot County Detention Center without bond.

WARRANT ARREST: TRAPPE — On June 15, Deputies from the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office arrested Charles William Elwell, 39 of Trappe.

An arrest warrant was issued by the Talbot County District Court charging Elwell with assault and violation of a protective order.

Elwell was taken before a District Court Commissioner and ordered held at the Talbot County Detention Center without bond.

WARRANT ARREST: TRAPPE — On June 22, Deputies from the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jennifer Samantha Zaldivar, 18 of Trappe.

An arrest warrant was issued by the Talbot County Circuit Court charging Zaldivar with failure to appear for a scheduled court date on original charges of unauthorized use of a vehicle.

Zaldivar was ordered held at the Talbot County Detention Center pending further action by the Circuit Court.

WARRANT ARREST: EASTON — On July 23, Deputies from the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office arrested Kartice Simmons, 37 of Easton, on a Dorchester County District Court Bench warrant.

Simmons is charged with assault and reckless endangerment stemming from an incident in Dorchester County. Simmons was ordered held at the Talbot County Detention Center without bond.
