Cookies laced with THC

CAMBRIDGE - On May 23, the School Resource Deputy at the Cambridge-South Dorchester High school and an officer from the Cambridge Police Department were made aware that a 15-year-old female student from the school had been taken to Dorchester General Hospital for treatment after she had eaten a chocolate chip cookie that had been given to her.

The student tested positive for T.H.C. The investigation identified two other victims that had eaten the cookies and had become ill, and the source of the cookies.

The 16-year-old male student who provided the cookies was arrested on May 24 and charged with two counts of reckless endangerment, possession of a CDS with intent to distribute, possession of a CDS with intent to distribute on school property, possession of paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.

He was ordered held by juvenile authorities pending a hearing.

Fire under investigation

HURLOCK — On May 9 firefighters from the Hurlock VFD responded to a fire at 4355 East New Market Road, Hurlock at 11:02 a.m. Discovered by a passerby the fire was farm equipment (300 ft. irrigation hose and 2-14 foot x 8 foot farm wagons). George Ewing was the owner.

Neighbor discovers blaze

HURLOCK — On May 27 at 5:10 p.m. Hurlock firefighers responded to a fire at 510 S. Main St., Apt. 14, Hurlock Village Apartments.

The two-story masonry apartment building is owned by T & M Properties and estimated loss was put at $800 to structure.

Originating in the first floor interior, the fire preliminary cause was incendiary (intentionally set fire).

The discovering neighbor sustained smoke inhalation which exacerbated an existing medical condition. The neighbor was transported to Dorchester General Hospital where she was treated and released.
