Orville Jackson Sr.

SALISBURY - Orville C. Jackson, Sr. died Monday, Oct. 17, 2016 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. Born in Vienna, he was the son of the late Fred D. and Bessie Morris Jackson. A graduate of the former St. Clair High School in Cambridge, he matriculated at Livingstone College in North Carolina and Morgan State University in Baltimore. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served during the Korean War. He was the owner and operator of the former Valet Cleaners in Salisbury for 41 years, retiring in 1998. A member of Wesley Temple United Methodist Church in Salisbury, he was instrumental in the construction of the new sanctuary. His survivors include his wife of 54 years, Marjorie Jackson, a daughter, Lori Jackson, both of Salisbury; three sons: Jay Jackson of Arlington, Va., Gary McNair of Costa Mesa, Calif., and Walter McNair of Cambridge; grandchildren; two siblings, Catherine Waller of Mardela,Springs and Harold Jackson of Vienna; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2016, at Wesley Temple United Methodist Church in Salisbury. Interment will be in the Eastern Shore Veteran's Cemetery in Hurlock. Arrangements are in the care of Lewis N. Watson Funeral Home in Salisbury.
