Openings available for children’s summer art classes at DCA

Posted

MD-spectrum 2-061715 Dorchester Center for the Arts Studioworks Artisan Gift Shop features items ranging from photographs, to pottery, to jewelry and more.

Spaces are still available for Dorchester Center for the Arts (DCA) summer arts experiences for children, which begin the week of June 29. Participants will experience enriching, creative fun under the supervision of experienced artists.

For summer 2015, young artists will have opportunities in the visual arts, fiber arts, literary arts, music, and the performing arts. Programs run from Monday to Friday and have a varied curriculum from week to week. All materials are provided for each session.

Specialty film classes are two-week programs that require registration in both weeks. Please note that film for ages 8 − 11 is a half day program; ages 12 and up is full day. In the film classes, students will learn to perform on screen and behind the camera, and make a movie of their own creation.

For all classes, children must be the ages stated on the class descriptions. Class groupings are designed according to attention span, hand size, and manual dexterity, not creative maturity. Scholarships are also available; please call 410-228-7782 for details. To download a copy of the complete Summer Arts schedule, visit dorchesterarts.org.
