CAMBRIDGE - On a bright, sunny morning of Monday, July 21, 2014, Oliver Garfield Farrare, our beloved husband, father, uncle, cousin and friend, affectionately known as "Woogie", departed to his eternal rest. He was a resident of the Salisbury Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Salisbury, Md. Born May 25, 1928, was the son of the late John L. Farrare and the late Bertie Baltimore Farrare-Jones. Oliver attended public school in Dorchester County, graduating from F.D. St Clair High School in 1945. Soon after, he was drafted into the United States Army, serving during the Korean War. After fulfilling his duty to his country, Oliver worked at several different jobs until being employed by J. Roland Dashiell Contractors. He retired after more than 40 years of service. Upon leaving Dashiell's, Oliver started Farrare Construction and Trucking Company. After spending a few years in business for himself, he decided it was time to retire once and for all. Oliver loved spending time fishing with his youngest son, Darryl and fishing buddies, Ed Taylor, Harry Church and Raymond Gattis. When he wasn't on a boat, you could find him in the yard working on his "toys", namely his lawnmowers. If it was too cold outside, you would find him in the garage tinkering with his toys. He leaves to celebrate his life, his wife, Wendy; sons, Larry and Darryl Farrare and Michael Farrare and wife, Joyce, all of Salisbury; two daughters, Deborah and Bertina Farrare, of Salisbury; one stepson, Daniel Elsey; two step-daughters, Wenett Jones-Johnson and Waynett Jones all of Salisbury; twelve grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. Other survivors include a sister, Eunice Jones, Cambridge; aunt, Hilda White of Baltimore; father in-law, Ralph Elsey; four sisters in-law, Deborah Williams, Gloria Kinney, Teresa Slade and Pam Elsey; two brothers in-law, Ralph Jr. and Robert Elsey; and a host nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son and daughter, John and Carolyn Farrare, respectively; brothers, John, Emerson and Russell Farrare; and stepson, Dominic Jones. Services will be held at noon on Sat., July 26, 2014 at Wesley UM Church Vienna, MD, with a viewing one hour prior. Interment in Reids Grove Cemetery. Condolences sent to www.henryfuneralhomepa.com
