SHILOH – Four of North Dorchester High School’s top academic and sports performers have been named October Athletes of the Month. The students received awards from sponsors Whitten Insurance or Regal Cinemas.

Kalifa Warren is October varsity female Athlete of the Month, sponsored by Whitten Insurance. She plays for the Eagles’ varsity soccer team.

Coach Hatfield said in a prepared nomination statement, “She is a true leader both on and off field. She is captain of the soccer team and she is the student representative of the board. She is an exceptional athlete. She can play at any position whether it is forward, mid field or defense. She plays every position at such a high level. Kalifa leads the team with such patience and the girls respond well to her.”

Marquise Parker is October varsity male Athlete of the Month, sponsored by Whitten Insurance. He plays for the Eagles’ varsity soccer team.

Coach Glynn wrote in his nomination, “Marquise is a junior on the varsity team, playing goalie. He is relatively new to the position but has done a tremendous job in between the pipes. He is one of the best teammates a coach and player can have. He has made 207 saves this season with one game left to play. Marquise is a positive player on the field and a positive student in school.”

Megan Price is October junior varsity/underclassman Athlete of the Month, sponsored by Regal Cinemas. She plays for the JV soccer team.

Her nomination letter said, “Megan Price is our nominee for junior varsity athlete of the month. Megan thanks her coaches and the athletic trainer after every single practice and game. She is always positive and tries her best. When she is on the bench she is encouraging her

teammates, and congratulates them on doing a good job when they come off the field. When she is on the field, she never backs down from a player who is double her size and never quits. Each week she works so hard to beat her mile time and she is usually always able to beat it. She is a determined player, who could easily be a captain later in her high school soccer career.”

Grant Walker is October junior varsity/underclassman Athlete of the Month, sponsored by Regal Cinemas. He plays for the Eagles’ golf team.

His nomination said, “Grant is a second-year player on the golf team and has moved his way up the roster from our number 5 golfer last year to the solid number 3 golfer this year. He is on the verge of breaking in to the round of 40s with his steady play on the golf team and garnered a personal best by shooting a 50 this year. He has been our number 2 golfer in a few matches this year with his much-improved play. There are great things to come for this young man.”
