SHILOH - Mizell Cooper, a senior at North Dorchester High School, was named as a candidate for recognition as a U.S. Presidential Scholar, a program of the U.S. Department of Education. The purpose of the award is to “recognize and honor some of our nation’s most distinguished graduating high school seniors” and is based on broad academic achievement as reflected in SAT and ACT scores.
Selection as a candidate is by invitation only, so Mizell was surprised to find out he was one of only five Eastern Shore high school seniors nominated. A member of the wrestling and cross-country teams as well as Key Club and National Honor Society, Mizell hopes to attend Towson University in the fall to study accounting.
