Special to The Dorchester Banner North Dorchester High School’s tradition of track and field competition is continuing in the 2015 season. Third from the left is Cambridge-South Dorchester’s Kindall Ridgely.[/caption] SALISBURY — The North Dorchester High School track and field team headed south on March 31, to take on Wicomico High School at home. Also at the meet were Snow Hill, Washington and Pocomoke. Eagles’ Head Coach Melvin Young said, “The entire team performed well and showed good sportsmanship. We are a very young team. I can see improvement in performance and technique in each meet.” For the boys, WiHi got a narrow victory over Snow Hill, 119 to 117. ND was third, with 58 points, followed by Washington and Pocomoke with 29 and 17. Snow Hill girls earned first place with their 111 points, as North Dorchester challenged with 105. Pocomoke was third with 58, while WiHi and Washington got 15 and 7. Among the best performances for the Eagles were senior Amanda Goslee’s victory in the 400-meter dash, in a time of 1:09.21. The girls’ throwers came on strong. In shot put, ND took the top three places — Destiny Coleman was first with 24’4.5,” Jasmine Sampson was second with 22’9.5,” and sophomore Talicia Elliott took third with a throw of 22’8.5.” Then in discus, Jasmine was first with 64’05,” and Talicia took second, with 57’9.” Lauren Covey continued the ND girls’ success in field events, as she won first place in the high jump, with a height of 4’2.” For the boys, Dajon Pittman won shot put, with a throw of 38’7.”
