SHILOH — Tryouts took place on Thursday and Friday, and Lady Eagles 2019 varsity and junior varsity volleyball teams are set. And just to make things extra special, the girls will have a brand-new, top-of-the-line gym in which to play and practice, with the new North Dorchester High School set to open in September.
“I want to thank all of the girls that tried out,” Head Coach Carol Hubbard wrote in a post online. “Like we said earlier, this is always tough on the coaches. You all did a great job and it was awesome to see you grow as volleyball players in just two days. Unfortunately, cuts are necessary. Please remember, it’s not personal and how you handle this says a lot about your character. Thank you all for trying out and putting forth a good effort. If anyone is interested in doing scorebook, clock or stats - please contact me.”
The team has seen considerable success in recent years, and has brought much excitement to NDHS with their high-energy performances. Last season, the varsity squad finished at 12-6, giving Eagles fans plenty to cheer about.
Varsity will open their season with an away game versus Parkside, at 5 p.m. on Sept. 9. Their home opener will be Sept. 12, 5 p.m. against Colonel Richardson.
