SHILOH – Top performance, behavior and team spirit earned four North Dorchester High School students the title of Athlete of the Month for November. The students are nominated by their coaches for the honor.
Sponsors for November are Metal Arc and Premier Cinemas.
Varsity Girl
Georgie Turner
“Georgie has been a member of the varsity team for four years. She is one of our setters and with our new offense, became a strong hitter this year as well. She has worked hard to get her serves more consistent,” Volleyball Head Coach Carol Hubbard said in a prepared statement from the school. “She is always at practice with a positive attitude and is willing to work on her weak areas as a player to improve and to work with teammates to help us improve as a team. She leads by example and is a great asset to the varsity volleyball team.”
Varsity Boy
Cole Morrissette
“Cole is a junior leader for us and has been at every practice and match this year and has made tremendous strides in his game. He worked hard in the off season to improve his game and works well with helping the beginner golfers as well,” Golf Coach Dave Morrissette said. “His match scores have lowered considerably, and even placed fourth at one match at Hog Neck Golf Course shooting a round of 41 for his career best score.” Cole scored in the 40s for five matches this year and garnered Most Valuable Player for the season with his quality match points this year.
“He finished the season shooting a very respectable 94 total on the 18-hole District Tournament at the Hyatt by shooting a 43, his second-best round ever, on the back nine and a 51 on the front,” Coach Morrissette said.
JV Boy
Hunter Knox
“Hunter Knox has done very well in improving his time this year and is a dedicated member of the team. He is a new comer to the cross-country team and is only a freshman,” a prepared statement from the school said. “Hunter had perfect attendance this year and went out of his comfort zone to join the team. He brings up the whole team with encouragement every day.”
JV Girl
Anna Tyler
“Anna was a newcomer on the golf team last year and managed to attend and play in five matches this year,” Coach Morrissette said. “She improved her game by 6 strokes with a personal best round of 66 this year. Always with a smile on her face and upbeat attitude, she has made great strides in improving her golf game and has come a long way in just one year. Looking forward to what the future holds for Anna on the golf course.”
