Myrtle May Vincent Shockley, 87, passed away Monday, May 14, 2007, in the Salisbury Genesis Elder Care.
Born in Allen and raised in Parsonsburg, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Daniel Perdue and Mattie Mae Esham Perdue.
Mrs. Shockley spent most of her life on the Eastern Shore. She was a member of Bethel Methodist Church in Walston Switch and Rebekah Lodge (IOOF) in Salisbury.
She retired from Banks & Pusey Pant Factory in Delmar, Gordy's Shoe Store in Salisbury and as a poultry farmer.
She is survived by her daughter, Diane Shockley Hammond; sons, Lee Walter "Buddy" Vincent and wife, Claudette and Marion Lee Vincent Jr. and wife, Elaine; grandchildren, Michael James Vincent, Kristina Vincent Gosnell and husband, Lee, Nicole Dawn Hammond Ruark and husband, Lee and Eric William Hammond; great-grandchildren, Zachary Vincent, Karl Gosnell and Kenna Ruark; sisters, Maude Almira Perdue Johnson of North Carolina and Helen Marie Perdue Steelman and husband, Chuck; brother, Charles W. Perdue and wife, Sandy; sisters-in-law, Betty Perdue of Massachusetts and Ella Mae Perdue, as well as many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Mrs. Shockley was preceded in death by her daughter, Myrtle May Vincent in 1944; brothers, Maurice Daniel Perdue, Durand Taylor Perdue and Ernest Everett Perdue; first husband, Marion Lee Vincent Sr. and second husband, John Merrel Shockley.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday at the Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury with a visitation during the hour preceding the service. The Rev. Owen C. Perdue will officiate. Burial will follow at the Wicomico Memorial Park in Salisbury.
