CAMBRIDGE — The Tiger A.M.B.U.S.H Step Team from Mace’s Lane Middle School under the direction of School Counselors Shonda Bell and Jennifer Lake and Speech Pathologist Assistant Zhani Moore kicked off Black History Month by visiting a Historically Black University (HBCU), Howard University in Washington, D.C.
Notable African-American alumni of Howard University include Thurgood Marshall, Zora Neal Hurston and Taraji P. Henson.
The step team was able to take a guided tour of the university, enjoy the experience of college dining and then participated in a scavenger hunt. The scavenger hunt tested the knowledge gained from the college tour and allowed the team to interact with numerous faculty and students on campus.
The Tiger A.M.B.U.S.H Step team continued to celebrate Black History Month by performing in a Black History Month step show exhibition at Annapolis High School on Feb. 23.
