Minnie Mae Cox

SALISBURY - Minnie Mae Givens Cox died Friday, May 29, 2015, at the age of 90. Born in Tallahassee, Fla., she was a daughter to the late Anna and Israel Givens. She met Benjamin L. Cox Sr. of Miami, Fla., and they married in 1943. The couple made Maryland, where they raised their six children, their home in the 1950s. She was employed at Peninsula Regional Medical Center for almost 20 years before retiring in July 1987. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Salisbury. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin L. Cox Sr.; a sister, Susie Mae Tyme; and eldest son, Louis M. Givens. She is survived by three sons, Benjamin L. Cox, Jr. of Allen, Vernon T. Cox of Westover and Kenny Cox Sr. of Allen; and two daughters, Pearl Cox of Allen and Martha A. Simmons of Houston, Texas. She also leaves behind nine grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. A funeral service was held Friday, June 5, 2015, at First Baptist Church (Historic Sanctuary) in Salisbury. Interment was in Springhill Memory Gardens in Hebron. Arrangements were in care of Lewis N. Watson Funeral Home in Salisbury.
