FACT FOCUS: Trump falsely accuses Maryland of sending 'illegal' mail-in ballots to voters
SUMMARY: President Donald Trump has falsely accused Maryland officials, including Gov. Wes Moore, of illegally sending hundreds of thousands of mail-in ballots to voters in an effort ensure victory for Democrats. The Maryland State Board of Elections says some voters received a ballot for the wrong party ahead of the state’s 2026 gubernatorial primary election in June due to a vendor error. All voters who may have been affected will receive a replacement ballot and any of the original ballots already sent to election offices will be voided.

Pennsylvania Democrats hope to flip Republican-held seats once they settle toss-up primaries
SUMMARY: Democrats in Pennsylvania will settle primary fights to shape their congressional slate for the fall, when they hope to capture four swing districts and ultimately a U.S. House majority. Tuesday’s top-of-the-ticket primaries for governor are all but set. But with four GOP-held seats targeted by Democrats in the fall election, Pennsylvania is on the front lines of Democrats’ effort to retake control of the U.S. House and block the last two years of President Donald Trump’s agenda. Three of those seats have contested Democratic primaries. A heavily Democratic district in Philadelphia is a wide-open contest that will almost surely anoint its next seatholder.

Ed Gallrein won Republican nomination for U.S. House in Kentucky’s 4th Congressional District, beating incumbent Thomas Massie. In Georgia, two Republicans went to a runoff to see who will take on Democratic Sen. Jon Ossoff. In Pennsylvania, Democratic voters picked their nominees to flip four Republican-held seats seen as critical for the party to retake the U.S. House. And Oregon voters have rejected an increase in the gas tax.

Takeaways from Tuesday's primaries: Massie's loss leaves no doubt about Trump's power over the GOP
SUMMARY: President Donald Trump has scored another win against a Republican rival, purging Rep. Thomas Massie in Kentucky’s primary and knocking out one of his most outspoken critics on Capitol Hill. Massie has been a particularly difficult thorn in Trump’s side. He pushed for the release of the Jeffrey Epstein files, opposed the war with Iran and voted against Trump’s signature tax legislation last year. He lost Tuesday to Trump-backed challenger Ed Gallrein following the most expensive U.S. House primary in history. Party primaries were also being decided in Alabama, Georgia, Idaho, Oregon and Pennsylvania.

SUMMARY: It's another hot day across the eastern U.S. a day after several spots broke daily heat records. The National Weather Service said another day of record heat was expected from the mid-Atlantic to New England before a cold front brings rain later in the week. A heat advisory was in effect for portions of Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island through Wednesday evening, with high temperatures and humidity making it feel like up to 96 degrees Fahrenheit.

Ravens coach shrugs off Lamar Jackson's absence at voluntary practice, says he'll be back soon
SUMMARY: Lamar Jackson was absent from a voluntary practice for the Baltimore Ravens. New coach Jesse Minter didn’t seem to be sweating it. Minter said he expects Jackson back soon but would keep his conversations with the star quarterback private. Jackson’s attendance at these types of OTAs has been sporadic over the years. It’s hard to say how much that matters, but it’s an issue critics have pointed to from time to time. His contract has also been a significant topic lately after he and the Ravens did not agree to an extension before the start of free agency.

Mets continue outfield youth movement, call up Nick Morabito from Triple-A Syracuse
SUMMARY: On his first day in the major leagues, New York Mets rookie Nick Morabito couldn’t help but think of how similar to the route the team bus took to Nationals Park was to his ride to high school was every day. Preakness this year is the most watched since 2021, NBC Sports says
SUMMARY: NBC Sports says that this year's running of the Preakness Stakes was the most watched since 2021. An average of 5.5 million viewers tuned in on NBC or Peacock with a peak audience of 7.1 million for the race itself won by Napoleon Solo. Ratings were up despite Kentucky Derby winner Golden Tempo not running and there being no chance at a Triple Crown. NBC said the Derby earlier this month was the most watched on record with an average of 19.6 million viewers. The Preakness was run in front of a limited-capacity crowd of 4,800 at Laurel Park while Pimlico Race Course is rebuilt.

Jazz Age style: Chisholm borrows Stanton's baggy pants, Caballero's bat to spark turnaround
SUMMARY: Jazz Chisholm Jr. is making a style statement with baggy pants, and it's paying off for the New York Yankees. Chisholm has been wearing Giancarlo Stanton's trousers and using José Caballero's bat to break out of an early season slump. His tiebreaking, two-run homer led the Yankees to a 7-6 win over Toronto on Monday. Chisholm's batting average had sunk to .200, but he's been on a hot streak since switching gear. Aaron Rai a surprise major winner only by name as PGA Championship lives up to major reputation
SUMMARY: Aaron Rai might be a surprising winner of the PGA Championship, but that's based on his pedigree and not the quality of shots that makes him a major champion. Rai performed like a champion and delivered shots at Aronimink that will be remembered for a long time. Most surprising is that he outplayed some of the best players in the game.
