Handsell on April 7
The Board of the Nanticoke Historic Preservation Alliance has made the difficult decision to cancel the April 25 Chicone Village Day at Handsell. “We will put all our efforts into the continued restoration and plans for opening for Summer Saturdays and the Oct. 10 Nanticoke River Jamboree,” a statement from the alliance said on April 7. “Stay safe, be well.” Visit www.restorehandsell.org

Testing site
Dorchester County Health Department proudly supports the Alternate COVID-19 Testing Site at Chesapeake College. This drive-through testing site was set up at Chesapeake College to relieve the local emergency rooms with testing of COVID-19 on March 20. The site is open Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This site will be closed on April 10 and reopen again April 13.
This site is not a drop-in site and you must be referred to be tested by your primary care physician.

Senior calls
Maryland senior citizens can sign up for a free daily telephone check-in by calling, “1-866-50-Check” (1-866-502-4325) or visit bit.ly/MDSrCallCheck. Register now. Tell your loved ones and help them get signed up for this valuable resource.

Shore Regional Health
As the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases rises in Maryland, our health care workers stand on the front lines. The need for support has reached a new level of urgency. “Make a donation or find out what you can do to help our patients, our workforce and our communities during this trying time by visiting umshoreregional.org/covidhelp,” a statement from Shore Health said on Tuesday.

Easter Service
On Easter morning, Immanuel United Church of Christ will hold an in-car worship service on our parking lot and we will celebrate the sacrament of communion. Worship will begin at 10:00 A.M. and we will abide by directives issued by the Health Department.
This includes everyone, except the pastor and a couple of worship leaders must remain in their cars, there will be nothing handed to or collected directly from people in their cars, and because individual, prepackaged communion elements are on backorder, we are asking everyone to bring their communion elements (grape juice and bread). Remember open containers of wine/alcohol are not allowed in cars.
We have joyfully been meeting and worshipping via a ZOOM meeting for the last few weeks and will continue to so on Easter Morning, Wednesday nights, and on Good Friday. We are not publishing our ZOOM links on our website or Social Media, but would be very pleased to privately send you a link to any of our worship services, which can be accessed through the internet with all of its bells and whistles or like a conference call on a simple, non-smart, regular phone.
