CAMBRIDGE — As the situation regarding COVID-19 continues to develop, local groups are reaching out to spread the word about changes to their events and schedules. It remains a good idea to check on the status of goods and services before leaving home.
The Banner compiled a list of announcements over the previous week, which follows:

Gov. Larry Hogan
Lack of testing is probably the number one problem in America, and has been since the beginning of the COVID-19 crisis. Every governor has been pushing and fighting and clawing to get more tests, not only from the federal government but from every private lab in America and from all across the world, and we continue to do so.
Cambridge Police Dept.
There has been some confusion over Governor Hogan’s executive Stay-at-Home Order that there is an 8 p.m. curfew. There is NO curfew. The order advises other than going out for essential needs you are to stay home. This is not an interpretation, this is the order as it is written and enforced by the Cambridge Police Department. County Council Member Lenny Pfeffer
I have confirmed with Cambridge that you can park at Long Wharf and Great Marsh parks and walk around or eat in your car. You cannot assemble in groups or play on the playground equipment. Egypt Road park can also be used to walk around but social distancing must be practiced. I hope these parks can continue to stay open, but it all depends on people obeying by the rules.
Feeding neighbors
Cambridge Lions Club Secretary Dale Krotee presented a $500 donation from the club to Salvation Army Cambridge food pantry.
Dorchester 4-H
Dorchester’s 4-H Club forwarded the following message from an associate at Wicomico 4-H:
I have a request and I know we can rise to the challenge. I have had a request for masks for employees at PRMC hospital. These employees need masks that they can wear home and in public.
If you are able to make and donate masks, please email Amy Rhodes at arhodes1@umd.edu. These are some of the exceptional operating room staff in need masks.

First, a big thank you to all who have come alongside The Salvation Army Cambridge and fed our residents through the first half of April! Your support has been incredible!
As we approach the second half of the month, we humbly request continued assistance feeding our shelter residents breakfast, lunch, and dinner as we shelter in place. Meals not listed on the calendar on Facebook are not yet covered.

Each United Way operates as an independent organization, focusing help to their local communities. At United Way of the Lower Eastern Shore, we are grateful to our local community nonprofit partners for all they do everyday, and what they continue to do during this countrywide crisis.

Carmela’s Cucina
Dear customers of Carmela’s Cucina, we will close our restaurant on Friday at 8 p.m. due to our inability to safely get fresh supplies. As many of you know, we are family owned and operated and, for the past few weeks, we have been feeding Cambridge with only three or four employees — our skeleton crew.
We would rather close our doors now, while we are all healthy, and reopen our doors at a later time than not be able to reopen at all. We hope and pray that you all stay safe and remain in good health.
We will come back stronger than ever. We can’t wait to feed Cambridge again. Until we see you again, we send you a “pizza” our hearts and saucy dreams, Stay tuned for updates and we will keep you posted on a reopen date.

Interview your parents and family members to see how they feel about the changes to their daily life. Ask your parents questions about how they are feeling, what are things that have changed, how can you help them make the daily flow go easier. Think of creative questions to get conversation flowing throughout the house! It is important to keep conversation going and be creative!

59 food boxes for Dorchester County were distributed Thursday, 120 for Caroline County today, 100+ for Talbot County Friday. Loaves and fishes y’all!
