Merritt Winfield Demby, 63

THOMPSONTOWN - Merritt Winfield Demby, departed this life Thursday, July 2, 2009. He was 63. He was born Jan. 6, 1946 in East New Market. He was the son of the late Roland and Laura Demby. He attended the public schools of Dorchester County. Merritt (known as Pop-Pop) was loved by everyone who knew him. Merritt leaves to mourn a son, Master Sergeant Dwayne Marine, U.S. Army; daughter-in-law, Angela Marine; three grandchildren, Dwayne Jr. and Alexis of Pasco, Texas, and Ta-sha of Cambridge; two brothers, Frederick Demby (Terry) of Cambridge and George Demby (Patricia) of Hurlock; two sisters, Thelma Dobson and Pearl Boggs of Hurlock; one other sister-in-law, Darlene Demby of Cambridge; two brothers-in-law, Wilbur Sampson and Nice Cornish of Hurlock; and a host of nieces nephews, cousins and friends. Home going service will be 1 p.m. Friday, July 10 at Faith Community UM Church in East New Market, with a viewing one hour prior to the services. Interment in the church cemetery.
